I selected this tight crop picture of a US Navy Vought F-8 CRUSADER jet fighter as being worth of a "Peter's Pick" because 1) I LOVE tight cropping [LESS IS MORE, namely, an ultra extreme tight crop of anything, which shows less of X is almost always guaranteed to be dramatic, because the tight crop, if done well, emphasizes what is important, and, in this case, what is important about the F-8, as a jet fighter, is the business end of the jet, namely, the weapons, e.g., the gun ports as shown in this picture, the snarly sharkmouth markings--I'm a sucker for them, the air intake, and part of the nose cone to the upper right, which, I am uncertain, might have a radar behind it; 2) I also love the eye above the sharkmouth. That eye, with the sharkmouth, coupled with the tight crop, just makes this picture come alive to me, with sizzle, making the plane look aggressive, as if it is alive, even when it is static, the engine is turned off, and there is no power turned on. The ultra tight crop also fills the frame and, by doing so, eliminates all distracting clutter. -- Peter Mancus
